What Is the $0.50 Platform Fee?

Why Marketplace purchases include a flat $0.50 platform fee, where you see it, and which purchases it applies to.

When you buy music on the EVEN Marketplace, you pay a flat $0.50 platform fee on top of the artist's price. This fee helps keep EVEN running, so artists can keep earning directly from their fans.

Where will I see the fee?

The fee is never hidden. It shows as its own line at checkout, on the Stripe payment page and on your receipt, so you always see it before you pay.

Which purchases include the fee?

The fee applies to one-time Marketplace purchases paid in US dollars. That includes à la carte, fixed-price and tier releases.

Memberships, Studio releases, free releases and purchases in other currencies don't include the fee.

Does the fee change what artists earn?

No. The fee is added on top of the artist's price, so their prices and payouts stay exactly the same. When artists set a price in Backstage, they'll also see what fans pay with the fee included.

Will I be charged tax as well?

Where tax is required, sales tax or VAT is calculated at checkout based on your location and shown to you before you pay. EVEN handles collecting and remitting it, so the total you confirm at checkout is the total you pay.

Can I pay more than the listed price?

Yes. Most releases are pay what you want above a minimum the artist sets, and anything you add goes to the artist.
